PSA: It may be hazardous to your health.

Sebastiani, Barbera, 1975.

Though I like the advertisement, I did not find this wine particularly Bold and Robust... I actually found it oxidized, lean, fruitless and over the hill. I think this wine poisoned me actually, hence the headache and nausea the day after our dinner at Palate... I usually don't post on wines that don't do it for me, so let's just consider this a public service announcement.

I don't know what to say about this. There were a few clues to it's quality. You must be a very curious lass. I like tasting these wines though when someone else is paying. Was it aldehydic? Finn suffered from horrible migraines when he drank those wines from Slovenia at Dave's house, and they seemed to be high in aldehyde.

Well, maybe it wasn't really poisonous :) I seemed to have consumed everything within grabbing distance that night... I had a terrible, terrible hangover...

It was not aldehydic at all and when we first opened it, it had fruit and a little umph. The wine was in impeccable condition, great fill, great cork, no leakage... but it went south within about 5 minutes of opening.

Anyway, I didn't drink for 2 days afterward - a lot for me!!!

Christ, Ian!! I remember that evening. It was scary!!
Love to one and all for a super coming year. Hope we all catch up. How about the south west of France?

I'm on my way to France in the morning!!! But Finn, I'll be in Burgundy for a week - too bad!!!

My dearest Amy...everyone now knows that the ONLY place to be in France, I repeat, ONLY place is a small village beside the Bergerac wine region. I cannot name it as the influx of people would upset the quiet equilibrium of the 'said' village. Oh, and the latest news throughout the world is that the wines of Bergerac have finally surpassed the Burgundian wines in quality, price, ethos, charm and basically the only road that leads to all out vinous ecstacy is to catch a plane to the up and coming airport of Bergerac.
That said I am very happy for you. I am sure you may well taste one or two semi-decent wines in...what was the name of that lesser known wine region...oh..yes Burgundy.
Love to you both and Bon Voyage!!!

Oh and Amy...there is not a hint of envy in my words.

All is based upon solid, scientific and degustatory analysis.

Finn will always be fighting for the underdog. I hear the wines of Brasil are quite charming...
