Manzone, Barbera d'Alba, 2004.A little animally at first, but then it really opened up and lost the animal flavors to good strawberry and raspberry fruit. Lots of acidity, of course, and while a little rustic, I found it very pleasant and easy to drink. It also had some surprising cinnamon, Christmas spice qualities.
We had this in the desert with lentil soup. Earthy and delicious.
