I like to consider myself the Carrie Bradshaw of the wine world. Not because I am a particularly talented writer, but because I love LA as much as she loves NY AND my expenditures on wine equal hers on Manolo Blahniks. In the 2006 calendar year I spent $13,846.37 on wine. Retail. For some big collectors that’s nothing, I know. But for me, with my modest income, that’s more than I pay annually in rent. And that’s why I’m like Carrie Bradshaw, she couldn’t afford her apartment either.

HELLO LAFARGE.
My friend Jill from Domaine 547 had a brilliant idea this morning ala Wine Library's Gary Vanderchuck (sp?). He apparently gives away wrist bands that say something to the effect of "I'm a Wine Library Fanatic" if you buy his book. I don't have a book (yet) but I'm now inspired to brand myself...
...what about red terry cloth sweat bands for your head that say HELLOWINE...?? I think that would be just GREAT! (Jill's idea)
In other news, I discovered Comcast OnDemand TV last night. Did you know that you can just press a button and watch a movie? It's better than Netflix!
So speaking of sweat bands for your head, I watched Juno (OnDemand for $3.99) and polished off half a bottle of Michel Lafarge, 2003 Bourgogne Rouge. It was delicious! Lafarge is a top producer in Volnay and makes incredibly traditional wines that have a very forest floor dried herb sort of thing going on. You can get this wine at the retail store at Palate for around $28. It's elegant and ephemeral. Providence pours the 2004 by the glass, but be preapred the 04 is a little bit greener - but me still likey!
Now... to order your homemade head band please call....

You are FUNNY! I would totally wear that head-band (though I'd prefer mine in terry cloth please).
I could not stop laughing through Juno. What a great movie. If I was 17 again, I would quoting that movie constantly.
I watched it while drinking a 2003 Ridge Lytton Springs Zinfandel.
Somehow, I suspect that either your bottle or my bottle are not the typical beverage when watching a movie like Juno. Just a guess.
Great blog, by the way.
... and seriously, you spent $13,846.37 on wine?
Wow. I wish I could claim that.
What happened to the branded thong idea?
Dear Wilfred, we decided for Headbands and not thongs, thought in some places (Miami) they use headbands as thongs.
